The site comprises the former Cloonabinnia House Hotel, a 1970s building on a c. 3.24-acre holding with around 200 m of frontage onto Ross Lake, off the N59 some 5 km from Moycullen village.[4] It last traded as a hotel until 2005 and as a direct-provision hostel until 2008, and has stood vacant and derelict since.[1] It is now listed on the Galway County Council Derelict Sites Register and has been marketed as a development site, with part of the lands subsequently broken up and sold.[9]
